20 Questions with Tex: MechWarrior Jaqueline DuVivier

TEX: Now if that ain’t the most un-regulation modification of a fatigue top I ever saw… I think I’m gonna enjoy this interview. Can we start with yer name, and where ya were born?

DUVIVIER: My name is Jacqueline DuVivier. I’d rather you call me Phoenix though. I was born on Leipsic, it’s an agriculture world near New Avalon.

TEX: Leipsic, eh? What was life like there?

DUVIVIER: Quiet, until I went to military school.

TEX: Somehow I find it hard to imagine ya in military school. How’d that happen?

DUVIVIER: My Dervish used to belong to my uncle. When he figured out I had talent, he convinced my father to send me to military school, then to NAMA.

TEX: Do you have any family or dependents currently?

DUVIVIER: Non. Sorry, No.

TEX: What’s yer feelins about the Great Houses?

DUVIVIER: The Federated Suns is the best house, of course. Actually, I don’t have really strong feelings for any of the houses. Probably why I like being a mercenary.

TEX: How’d ya come to be a merc?

DUVIVIER: I’m a mechwarrior, of course. I didn’t like the regular military lifestyle that much.

TEX: What lead you to the Royal Dragoon Guards?

DUVIVIER: A phone call.

TEX: What’s yer current assignment in the Dragoons?

DUVIVIER: I’m in Rogue Lance. That’s Red Lance according to the officers.

TEX: What fella Dragoons stick out in yer mind?

DUVIVIER: J’adore my lance mates!

TEX: I know what yer’ fella MechWarriors would say – the male ones anyways – but what do you think yer strongest assets are?

DUVIVIER: My interpersonal and information gathering skills.

TEX: And yer biggest weaknesses?

DUVIVIER: Getting bored. Not with you, that was my answer. I tend to get bored, especially on long jump circuts and cause trouble.

TEX: Ya got any personal beliefs ya hold to?

DUVIVIER: I don’t believe that the nobility should be allowed to do whatever they want just because their families have been in charge for generations. It leads to stagnation and the abuse of the people they are in charge of. And no one above them pays attention as long as they keep producing food. Doesn’t matter that the people are starving or leaving in poverty and ignorance.

DUVIVIER: Sorry about that. I get a little worked up sometimes… *wink*

TEX: How ‘bout yer personal and professional goals?

DUVIVIER: Make money and gain more experience as a mechwarrior.

TEX: And that’s why yer a merc?

DUVIVIER: Like I said, didn’t care for army life much…

TEX: How would yer fella Dragoons describe yer personality?

DUVIVIER: *sarcastically*Easy. I guess I’m just a very likable person. *smiles disarmingly*

TEX: Ya got any special qualities yer particularly proud of?

DUVIVIER: Are you sure this is an interview? I like knowing how to handle myself in social situations. Hopefully, I’ll get to use it to advantage on this next mission.

TEX: Anything you just can’t do, no matter what?

DUVIVIER: Yep. Surgery. Guess it’s good thing Claudia’s around.

TEX: What things do you hate, just cannot stand?

DUVIVIER: Dictators. And boys who think that driving big mechs makes them men. *wink*

TEX: What things do you enjoy or love?

DUVIVIER: I love life. I love knowledge. I enjoy doing and being, learning new things and having new experiences.

TEX: Is there anything else you want your fellow Dragoons to know about you?

DUVIVIER: Just because I enjoy myself doesn’t mean I don’t have taste.

TEX: Now, why can I think of about three folks that coulda’ been directed at…
