Pay Scales
Pay in the Royal Dragoon Guards
When practicable, the RDG pays it’s mercenaries in C-Bills on the last day of each month. The Battalion tries to keep some local currency on hand for emergencies, but C-Bills seem to be the most commonly accepted currency across the Inner Sphere, so as much commerce as possible is done in ComStar currency. Like most mercenary units in the 31st Century, the Royal Dragoon Guards maintain an account in good standing with ComStar to ensure the safety and accessibility of the unit’s funds.
Base Pay
A Dragoon receives a paycheck calculated on his or her base pay, determined by MOS, multiplied by a factor associated with they pay grade. The final result is their monthly pay. Unlike the militaries of centuries ago, where a rifleman and a pilot made the same basic pay for a given rank, and there were myriad additions, subtractions and multipliers for things like hazardous duty, combat pay, flight pay, jump pay, etc. – most Mercenary units keep things simple, but pay different MOS soldiers different amounts of base pay. The Royal Dragoon Guards subscribes to this pay scheme, with MOS being a major determinent to the amount of earnings.
