First Sergeant Sonya Davenport

First Sergeant Davenport is something of a closed book to her fellow Dragoons, despite the fact that they work with her every day.  A citizen of the planet Royal in the Draconis March, Davenport claims common ancestry and the earning of her MechWarrior status through a “lucky shot” that potted her a Kurita Jenner during the Fourth War while serving with Chisholm’s Raiders.  Davenport quickly grew proficient with the Jenner-F, earning a reputation as a crack light ‘Mech driver and surprising everyone when she chose to muster out at the end of her tour of duty, heading for Galatea to find mercenary work.

 

Once at the Mercenary’s Star, Davenport applied to several Mercenary Commands, receiving an offer of employment from each – but choosing to enter the Royal Dragoon Guards as a Private.  Her skill and organizational ability saw her moved quickly into the NCO grades, and appointed to act as Battalion S-3 until an officer could be hired to fill the role.  The original owners of the unit offered her a commission, which she has refused twice to date- finally accepting her current post as Company First Sergeant with Easy Company and de-facto senior NCO for the regiment upon their return to Galatea.

 

Despite her often abrasive personality, she has managed to become very close with her lancemates, especially Claudia Spencer and Jaqueline DuVivier and her Leftenant, Razan Kano.  Davenport has often publicly and vocally stated that Kano was the only officer worth the name in Easy Company during the Tukayyid contract during the Ronin Wars in 3034-5.

 

Davenport has been cautiously optimistic about her new post as First Sergeant, and about Major Mainwaring’s decision to personally lead Easy Company in the absence of Captain Wellington.  She continues to strive to bring her MechWarriors up to speed with what she considers to be the important parts of soldiering, leaving out the “chicken shit” and focusing on the things that make the company run.
