What is a Billet?

In the Royal Dragoon Guards, a billet refers to the responsibilities of a member as part of the group.  Most members will hold the billet of MechWarrior (Pilot, Cavalryman, etc.) which is the basic type of membership – a player.  Players who assist in administrating the group at the Lance level will hold a Lance NCO or Lance Commander billet.  These players are responsible for their 4-player team, with the NCO handling the details of making sure their team is conversant in the Battletech game rules while the Lance Commander handles event planning and tabletop tactics.

Each billet comes with a degree of responsibility to the Unit, from showing up and playing at the MechWarrior level to helping write the overall plot of the campaign and upkeep of Persona records and experience points at the Battalion Staff level.  Billets are meant to be exclusive, but a member may hold more than one billet at the discretion of the Battalion Commander, approved in cases of staff billets when the Unit is not large enough to need a dedicated member who holds that billet to the exclusion of other duties.

Billets are held for a six-month tour of duty, from about 15 August to 15 February, and 15 February to 15 August of each calendar year.  Billet descriptions will show wether the billet’s occupant is elected or appointed to the billet, and by whom.

Appointments

The Battalion Commander will appoint all leadership personnel.
