SERVICE AWARDS

  Service Awards are issued for the services that the player accomplishes as a member of the Royal Dragoon Guards organization.  Service awards are issued to the player rather than the persona, and remain with the player for the duration of their membership in the Royal Dragoon Guards.

Honor Lance

Qualification:

 The Lance that participates most in all facets of RDG membership.

Device:

 S01_HonorLance  A bronze oak leaf cluster denotes a second award, with an additional cluster for each additional award to a total of five (four oak leaf clusters)

Awarding Authority:

 Battalion Commander

Description:

   In each Company with more than one Lance, every six-month period an evaluation will be done by the Battalion Staff to determine which Lance recieves the distinction of being named Honor Lance.  Honor Lance represents the lance that, as a team, best participates in all the facets of the Royal Dragoon Guards- not just gaming. 

Scoring Formula :

Attendance - 0 to 20 based on average % of the Lance present at each regular event for that Company.

Qualifications – 0 to 20.  1 point for each Lance member who has completed a Basic qualification.  2 points for each Lance member who has completed an intermediate qualification.  3 points for each member who has completed an advanced qualification.  4 points for each member who has completed a Military Academy Doctorate.

Drill – o to 20.  2.5 points for each Lance member with at least a Basic Drill Qualification.  2.5 points for each Lance member who attends three Drill practices in a six-month period.

Uniform – 0 to 20.  2 points for each Lance member who wears unit garb to at least six meetings or events in a six-month period.  5 points for wearing an approved uniform to at least six meetings or events in a six-month period.

BattleTech – 0 to 20.  Lances will participate in a round-robin faceoff with a standard Inner Sphere Lance of one heavy, two medium and one light BattleMechs on terrain selected by the GM Staff.  First Place will recieve 20 points, second place 15, third place 5.

NOTE : Lances with more or fewer members than 4 will have their scored adjusted accordingly to allow for fair competition.

 

Dragoon Service Commendation

Qualification:

 Consisted service above and beyond what is expected of a member over a longer period of time.

Awarding Authority:

 Awards Committee

Description:

   The DSC is awarded to members who consistently perform above and beyond what is normally expected or required of a member in the sense of service to the group.  This service should take place over a period of not less than six months and preferably a year or more and serve to set a visible example for other members.  This service must be multiple instances over a period of time, and should be of an order more time-intensive than would earn the DSA.

 

Dragoon Service Achievement

Qualification:

 A specific incedence of excellence in service to the Royal Dragoon Guards.

Device:

 S03_DSvcAch  A silver star represents an additional award.  Multiple silver stars denote additional awards up to five total (four stars).

Awarding Authority:

 Awards Committee

Description:

   The DSA is awarded for any single incidence of service or single type of service to the RDG that contributes significantly to the overall organization.  This service should be of more than a token nature.  Helping with damage control after a game would not in itself qualify, but helping with damage control consistently after multiple games might.  Setting up maps and miniatures for a single game would not in itself qualify, but pulling an “all-nighter” to prepare the unit for a major event game might.

 

Officer Service Ribbon

Qualification:

 Complete one six-month term in an officer billet.

Awarding Authority:

 Battalion Commander

Description:

   A full term in an officer billet qualifies a member for this ribbon.  Only a complete six-month term satisfies the requirements for this ribbon.  An incomplete term, or one joined after 15 August or 15 February will not count as complete unless waived by the Battalion Commander.

 

NCO Service Ribbon

Qualification:

 Complete one six-month term in an NCO billet.

Device:

 S06_NCOSvc  A bronze oak leaf cluster denotes a second award, with an additional cluster for each additional award to a total of five (four oak leaf clusters)

Awarding Authority:

 Battalion Commander

Description:

   A full term in an NCO billet qualifies a member for this ribbon.  Only a complete six-month term satisfies the requirements for this ribbon.  An incomplete term, or one joined after 15 August or 15 February will not count as complete unless waived by the Battalion Commander.

 

Staff Service Ribbon

Qualification:

 Complete one six-month term as a member of the Battalion Staff

 S07_StaffSvc  A bronze oak leaf cluster denotes a second award, with an additional cluster for each additional award to a total of five (four oak leaf clusters)

Awarding Authority:

 Battalion Commander

Description:

   A full term in a Staff billet qualifies a member for this ribbon.  Only a complete six-month term satisfies the requirements for this ribbon.  An incomplete term, or one joined after 15 August or 15 February will not count as complete unless waived by the Battalion Commander.

 

The Veteran’s Ribbon

Qualification:

Three years service as a member of the Royal Dragoon Guards 

Device:

 S08_VetRibbon  A bronze star is affixed for each additional award, up to a total of five awards (four stars)

Awarding Authority:

 Battalion Commander

Description:

   A member recieves the Veteran’s Ribbon after three years of membership in the Royal Dragoon Guards.

NOTE : Date of Enlistment for founding members is considered to be 1 August 2008, making the first eligible recipients of the Veteran’s Ribbon those founding members still active on 1 August 2011.

 

The Order of the Mask

Qualification:

Excellence in Role-Playing 

Device:

 S09_OrMask  A bronze oak leaf cluster denotes a second award, with silver denoting a third and gold a fourth.

Awarding Authority:

 Award Committee

Description:

   The Order of the Mask is intended to recognize a member who shows an extraordinary ability to bring their Persona to life through role-play, knowledge of their character’s motivations and history and masterful story craft. 

  Members who go out of their way to develop a personality, history and storyline for their character are the intended recipients of this award.  The member who speaks with a particular voice or accent when in Persona, or creates genre-specific garb, or works with the Game Mastering staff to create storylines are all examples of members who would be considered for this award.

 

Honor Guard

Qualification:

 Participate as a member of the Honor Guard

Device:

 S010_HonorGuard Bronze stars are added to this ribbon to represent each additional award, up to a maximum of six total, denoted by a single silver star.

Awarding Authority:

 Battalion Commander or Honor Guard Commander (if any)

Description:

   The Honor Guard ribbon is awarded to members of the Royal Dragoon Guards who have either completed eight hours Honor Guard training or have participated in an Honor Guard detail for an event.  This ribbon may only be awarded once per six-month period.

 

Galatea 3034 Campaign Ribbon

Qualification:

Be a founding member of the Royal Dragoon Guards, with a persona in play between 1 August 2008 and 31 July 2009.

Awarding Authority:

Battalion Commander

Description:

  This ribbon is awarded to a member who had a persona in action during the 3034 campaign.  This includes the initial formation of the Royal Dragoon Guards, the training of Easy and Fox companies, and Easy Company’s deployment to Tukayyid in 3034-3035.  The cutoff date is 31 July 2009 out-of-game.

 

Current Campaign Ribbon

Qualification:

 Serve during the current campaign.

Awarding Authority:

 Battalion Commander

Description:

   At the conclusion of each major campaign, the Royal Dragoon Guards will adopt a ribbon for that campaign to denote the members who had an active persona in that campaign.  The Battalion Commander and staff will determine what period or activities comprise a campaign and create the ribbons accordingly.
