On Saturday, 16 February 2019, the Round Rock High School library staff and volunteers ran the second Central Texas Kids & Teens Comic Con at Round Rock High School. This free event included presentations on art, comics, games and more with a cosplay competition, artist’s alley and vendor booths.

The Royal Dragoon Guards were asked to provide gaming support for the event, and given tables in the cavernous RRHS library. The team arrived at 0800 and set up tables for Marvel Superheroes, Swords & Wizardry Light, Legendary, Ticket to Ride, Century Spice Road and other games. Once the event got rolling, the gaming tables were busy until the end of the day when the cosplay competition began, signaling the end of the other activities.

The RDG handed out dozens of copies of Swords & Wizardry Light, along with a new flyer directing attendees to the Resources page of this site so that they may download and play a number of free RPGs. The copies of SWL came with the four Class character cards and a D20 and D6, everything new gamers need to get started.

From 1200-1250 a presentation on Introduction to Tabletop Roleplaying Games was run by the RDG staff, and filled the seats of the room with some attendees standing or sitting on the floor. Many of the attendees of the presentation headed over to the gaming area to play or pick up copies of the SWL packet.

All in all, this was a very successful event for the RRHS Library Staff, and a successful expression of the RDG’s mission to spread gaming of all forms to new people.
